Define slip in case of belt drive

 QUESTION

Define slip in case of belt drive

Answer : -

Slip

Slip is a insufficient friction between pulley and belt.

Slip is defined as it is a difference between linear velocities of pulley and belt that is called as slip of belt drive

Slip is occurs belt drive means efficiency of belt drive is not 100%. Hence belt drive is non- positive drive.

When belt is new that time low slip occurs but when belts is old that time more slip occurs in belt drive.
